REVIEW – 2023 has been a big year for gardening for my wife. After planning for a while, she finally convinced me to take leave of my other tasks and build her the garden of her dreams including planter boxes and an Arbor. While I was doing that, she secured her soil and compost and tools, and everything else she needed for a successful garden. I remember her driving into the city to collect bags of compost that were being given away. She told me that compost is a big part of supporting the proper growth of the greens and vegetables she planned to plant. My wife stresses the importance of good compost and being environmentally friendly so often that when I told her that I had the opportunity to review the Reencle Composter, she was bursting with anticipation and excitement.

As far as I can recall, she planted, 3 different types of peppers, squash, eggplant, watermelons, beans, apples, lemons, tangerines, several types of herbs, strawberries, cucumbers, etc. To give you an idea, here is a photo of one of 2 baskets that she would pick just about every day since she started reaping.

Design and features

The Reencle Composter has a plastic exterior with 2 lids on the top. On the top front, there is a touch control pad, and on the lower front a motion sensor. On one side there is a place for the carbon filter to be connected. Inside there are metal rods and blades that turn the ingredients. There are handles on the sides.

Setup and Performance

Setting up and using the Reencle Composter involves a few steps but it is quite easy:

Once you have gone through the steps illustrated above, it is time to let the Composter do its thing.

Here is an illustration of the functions of the touchpad buttons:
This next photo shows the provided Reencle Microbe (Microorganism) that is placed in the Composter first.

In the next 3 photos, my wife has added the scraps:

Here is a photo of the resulting compost after approximately 24 hours.

As per the instructions, if the resulting compost is a bit damp, you can add things like bread. The bread is mixed in and absorbs the dampness.

Here is a list of the food waste that is acceptable and not acceptable:

What I like

  • Nice Design
  • Well built
  • Functions as designed
  • Produces nice compost
  • Silent operation
  • The sensor on the front opens the lid when you approach the device so you do not have to touch anything

What I’d change

  • It fills the home with an unusual smell. I would not describe it as a bad smell, but rather an unusual smell

Final thoughts

The Reencle Composter is nicely designed and does a very good job of producing nice compost from kitchen scraps. The amount of compost produced is not a huge amount but it can be done frequently enough to be very useful.
