REVIEW – I received a Swiss Army folding knife for my 8th birthday and that may have been what started not only my love for knives but all gadgets. I have owned a lot of folding knives since then but I had never heard of Vosteed so when they asked me to review their new Valkyrie I asked if they were sure because I expect a lot from my knives. Let’s see if the Vosteed Valkyrie can earn a spot in my pocket.
What is it?
The Vosteed Valkyrie is their latest EDC folding knife that comes in two blade styles, modified Seax or Sheepsfoot. There are eight different configurations to choose from but all eight options have G10 handles and 154CM blade steel. It features a manual button or plunge lock which Vosteed calls their Trek lock. The Valkyrie utilizes a ceramic ball-bearing pivot to quickly open the blade using the thumb stud or traditional flipper.

Design and features
Most knives these days, even higher-end ones, are shipped in a plastic sleeve inside a cardboard box with maybe a care sheet. So I was surprised to open the box and find a cardboard sleeve over a tin box with another nice soft pouch inside with the Vosteed Valkyrie folding knife and a bunch of extra swag. Very nice touch Vosteed.
Now onto the main attraction, the Vosteed Valkyrie is available with a sheepsfoot style blade or in a pointier modified Seax which is a traditional Scandinavian design. I prefer the narrower tip of the Seax which makes it easier to cut zip ties and I feel it just allows for more accurate cuts. The 3.26” blade is an extremely usable size and gets the overall size of the handle to 4.36” which fits nicely in all my pockets and at only 3.53 oz I forget it’s there.
There are eight versions of the Vosteed Valkyrie folding knife to choose from but all come with G10 scales over full steel skeletonized liners and 154CM blade steel which is a premium steel known for good edge retention. The manual plunge or button lock is very smooth and solid with great lock up and absolutely no play in the blade. It is well placed where your thumb wants to naturally sit. It’s easy to press and just flick the blade open but I prefer to use the flipper which has nice jimping that makes it easy to flip. Either method was quick and snappy due to the ceramic bearing on the pivot. I found the G10 handles very comfortable with good grip even when wet or with gloves on.
The handle fits my hand really nicely and conforms to finger placement quite well for a normal grip or if I choke up on it a little for more blade control. There is more jimping on the top of the blade for your thumb to rest which helps with grip during precision cuts.
The Vosteed Valkyrie folding knife features a black stainless steel deep carry clip that sits in the pocket at I think a perfect height. There’s just enough handle sticking out for your index finger to grip when extracting from the pocket. No lanyard hole but that’s not a deal breaker for me. I keep my phone in my left front pocket and my thin wallet, car key, and knife in my right front pocket. When reaching in my pocket there were times when my hand would rub the jimping on the flipper but not enough to be an issue.

Final thoughts
With the excellent design, ceramic bearing, G10 handles, smooth plunge lock, and extras like the nice little soft case inside a tin can I would have expected the Vosteed Valkyrie folding knife to cost at least $100 more than its low $79 price tag. Vosteed has hit a home run with the Valkyrie and it is now my everyday carry knife. I will definitely keep Vosteed on my radar from now on. Maybe a larger version with a 4” blade? How about it, Vosteed?
